MOUNT PANTOKRATOR
Mount Pantokrator is the highest peak on Corfu at 906 meters and serves as a premier destination for mountain birdwatching. The upper slopes and summit area offer an alpine and rocky Mediterranean scrub environment. Winding mountain roads and walking trails lead up through historic villages like Old Perithia, providing varied transition zones for spotting both soaring raptors and uncommon mountain passerines. Clear days also grant sweeping views across the Ionian Sea to nearby Albania.
You can reach the summit either by driving the winding mountain roads up from Akrotiri or the northeast coast, or it is possible to do a hiking trip up from the village of Old Perithia. Early morning is an ideal time to visit for passerine activity and raptor sightings.
Public transport:
Although it is possible to get excursions to the top of the mountain, a car is pretty much essential for this site.
