Hummingbird Hawk-moth (Macroglossum stellatarum)

The Hummingbird Hawk-moth (Macroglossum stellatarum) is a fast-flying day-active moth found across Europe. It hovers over flowers, like a hummingbird, with very rapid wingbeats and a long proboscis used for feeding on nectar. Its grey-brown body, orange hindwings, and darting flight make it an easy to spot summer visitor in flower-rich habitats.

The Corfu Nature Website currently contains over 6,000 photographs of  more than 1,100 wildlife species found on Corfu.
