Moths

European Gypsy (Lymantria dispar dispar)

The European Gypsy Moth (Lymantria dispar dispar) is a large moth, native to Europe, whose caterpillars damage hundreds of tree species, with a preference for oaks and poplars. Known as a major defoliator, its outbreaks can severely damage trees and cause a human skin reaction known as "gypsy moth dermatitis".
