Italian Locust (Calliptamus italicus)

The Italian locust (Calliptamus italicus) is a medium-sized grasshopper found across southern and central Europe. It has mottled brown wings with a reddish hue that is visible in flight. Preferring dry, open habitats, it can form large swarms that damage crops and vegetation. Active in summer, it feeds on grasses and herbs and is considered an agricultural pest.
