The Poplar Fieldcap (Cyclocybe aegerita) is a saprotrophic, white-rot fungus that grows in dense, cascading clumps. It feeds on dead or dying wood, specifically favouring poplars, cottonwoods, and willows.
It is common throughout central and southern Europe.
