Common Cone Head (Conocybe tenera)

The Common Cone Head (Conocybe tenera) is a small, delicate fungus found in grassy areas worldwide. It is saprotrophic, meaning it obtains nutrients by decomposing organic matter, and its presence is considered a sign of a healthy, nutrient-recycling ecosystem. The mushroom is not edible, and should not be consumed due to the risk of misidentification with similar, highly toxic species.

The Corfu Nature Website currently contains over 6,000 photographs of  more than 1,100 wildlife species found on Corfu.
If you find something new that is not in the database, please submit it to the website.
