Twin-lobed Deerfly (Chrysops relictus)

The Twin-lobed Deerfly (Chrysops relictus) is a medium-sized biting fly with distinctive dark-patterned wings and striking green or gold eyes. Found in wet, wooded areas across Europe, females feed on blood, while males consume nectar. Active in summer, they are swift fliers and can be persistent biters.
