European Drone Fly (Eristalis arbustorum)

The European Drone Fly (Eristalis arbustorum) is a common hoverfly that's famous for its remarkable ability to mimic the size, coloration, and flight patterns of honeybee drones (called 'Batesian mimicry'). It plays an important role as a pollinator in gardens and wetlands across the Northern Hemisphere.
