Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria)

A medium sized, brown butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies)
Flying in February | March | April | May | June | July | and again in | October | November | December

The Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria) is common in partially shaded woodland with dappled sunlight. It is quite an easy butterfly to identify with the speckled appearance of the wings being quite obvious.
