Southern Comma (Polygonia egea)

A medium sized, orange butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies)
Flying in May | June | July | August | September | October

The Southern Comma (Polygonia egea) is a relative of the Comma and occurs in southern Europe and Mediterranean area, particularly Italy and Greece. It has a very distinctive shape and colour, the underwings are patterned like wood grain.
