Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae)

A medium sized, orange butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies)
Flying in March | April | May | June | July | August | September | October

The Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) is very rare in Corfu and you will be lucky to spot one. The upper wings are vividly marked, whereas the underwing is drab, providing camouflage. The Small Tortoiseshell is the national butterfly of Denmark.
