Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia)

A large, orange butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies)
Flying in May | June | July | August | September | October

The Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia) is a startling, large butterfly that gets its name from the silver streaks on the underside of its wings. It can be seen during the summer months, frequenting blackberry and hawthorn bushes in woodland glades.
