The Scarce Swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius) is a large white butterfly with distinct black stripes, and is easily recognisable, butterfly. Despite its name, it is not particularly scarce in Corfu and can frequently be seen. It should not be confused with the Old-world Swallowtail which is often found in the same location but has a more yellow appearance.
