A large, red/brown butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies)
Flying in March | April | May | June

The Peacock (Aglais io) is a colourful red/brown butterfly with a large peacock-like eyespot which is thought to scare predators. It rests with its wings closed, showing the almost black, well-camouflaged underside. It is not very common in Corfu.
