Grizzled Skipper (Pyrgus malvae)

A small, brown butterfly in the family Hesperiidae (Skipper butterflies)

The Grizzled Skipper (Pyrgus malvae) is a small, fast-flying butterfly found in open, grassy habitats across Europe. It has dark brown wings with a checkerboard pattern of white spots. Often seen basking with wings open, it flies in spring and early summer. Its caterpillars feed on plants like wild strawberry and cinquefoil, favouring sunny, undisturbed areas.
