Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus)

A small, brown/blue butterfly in the family Lycaenidae (Gossamer-winged butterflies)
Flying in April | May | June | July | August | September | October | November

The Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) is a member of the family Lycaenidae. It is a small butterfly and very different in colour to the male. It can easily be mistaken for a Brown Argus, and vice versa. Have a look in the 'Lycaenidae' section under 'Butterfly Composites' for a link to see a detailed comparison between the two species.
