Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator)

The Woodchat Shrike (Lanius senator) is a striking migratory songbird with a black mask, chestnut crown, and white underparts. Breeding in southern Europe, it hunts insects, small reptiles, and rodents, often impaling prey on thorns for storage. It favours open countryside with scattered bushes and migrates to sub-Saharan Africa for the winter.
