Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)

The Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) is in the family Pipits/Wagtails/Thrushes/Larks and is a medium-sized, glossy black bird with iridescent purple and green feathers and speckled plumage in winter. Common across Europe it is highly social, forming large, synchronised flocks known as murmurations.
