Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides)

The Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides) is a small, stocky heron found in southern Europe. It has creamy-buff plumage, a short neck, and yellow legs. A waterside bird preferring wetlands and shallow waters, it feeds on fish, insects, and amphibians and is a patient and skilled hunter in reed beds and marshes.
