Sand Martin (Riparia riparia)

The Sand Martin (Riparia riparia) is in the family Swallows/Swifts and is a small, slender swallow with brown upper parts and a white belly, marked by a narrow brown breast band. It nests in colonies, excavating burrows in sandy banks or riverbanks. Migratory, it feeds on flying insects over water and open fields.
