European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca)

The Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) is in the family Warblers/Flycatchers and is a small migratory bird found across Europe. Males have striking black-and-white plumage, while females are brownish with lighter underparts. It breeds in woodland and parks, nesting in tree cavities or nest boxes. An agile insectivore, it catches flying insects mid-air, playing an important role in controlling insect populations.
