The pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is a large, colorful game bird native to Asia and widely introduced in Europe. Males have striking iridescent plumage with a long tail and red facial wattles, while females are mottled brown for camouflage. Ground-dwelling and omnivorous, pheasants feed on seeds, insects, and small invertebrates, and are known for their loud, distinctive calls.
