Lesser Grey Shrike (Lanius minor)

The Lesser Grey Shrike (Lanius minor) is a migratory, predatory bird belonging to the shrike family Laniidae. Known as "butcherbirds," they are highly predatory with an insectivorous diet. Shrikes hunt from perches such as telephone wires or treetops and are known to occasionally impale their prey on thorns or barbed wire to create a "larder".
