The Kentish Plover (Anarhynchus alexandrinus) are coastal birds, preferring open, moist nesting sites with minimal vegetation. They are most commonly spotted across sandy beaches and dry mudflats. They are insectivores that rely on a distinctive "run and stop" hunting method, dashing across the sand, pause to look or listen, and then quickly pick up target invertebrates.
