House Martin (Delichon urbicum)

The House Martin (Delichon urbicum) is in the family Swallows/Swifts and is a small migratory swallow with glossy blue-black upperparts, a white rump, and pure white underparts. It nests in mud-built cups under eaves, often in colonies. Agile in flight, it feeds on airborne insects. Arriving in Europe in spring, it departs for Africa in autumn.
