European Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur)

The European Turtle Dove (Streptopelia turtur) is a small, dainty bird celebrated in culture as a symbol of love and fidelity. Famous for its appearance in the Christmas carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas," this bird is actually a summer-only visitor to Europe and is currently facing a severe conservation crisis.
