Spider Hunting Wasp (Cryptocheilus comparatus)

Cryptocheilus comparatus is a large, solitary spider-hunting wasp found in parts of Europe. Females paralyze spiders to provision their underground nests, where they lay eggs for their larvae to feed on. Black with yellow markings, these wasps prefer sunny, open habitats and are active in summer.
