The Florentine Wool Carder Bee (Anthidium florentinum) is a striking wool carder bee with a black body marked by vivid yellow spots. Males are larger and territorial, guarding flower patches aggressively. Females collect plant fibres to line their nests which, in these photos, is a wind-chime. Common across southern Europe, it prefers sunny habitats rich in flowers, especially labiates, which provide both nectar and nesting material.
