European Hornet (Vespa crabro)

The European Hornet (Vespa crabro), with its reddish-brown and yellow markings, is the largest social wasp in Europe. It nests in tree cavities, buildings, or other sheltered sites and is generally non-aggressive unless threatened. A predator of many insects, it plays a role in controlling pest population.
