Bees/Wasps

Common European Sand Wasp (Bembix rostrata)

The Common European Sand Wasp (Bembix rostrata) is a robust, solitary wasp found in sandy soils across Europe. Females dig burrows and provision them with flies to feed their larvae. They are fast flyers and often seen buzzing low over warm, open ground in summer. These wasps play a valuable role in regulating fly populations in their habitats.
