Brown-striped Digger Bee (Amegilla garrula)

The Brown-striped Digger Bee (Amegilla garrula) is a striking banded bee found in southern Europe and the Mediterranean. They are solitary bees and the females nest in soil or sandy banks, lining burrows for their brood. They are fast, agile flyers, often hovering while feeding on nectar and are effective pollinators which play an important role in Mediterranean ecosystems.
