Animals

There is a small, reproducing population of wild raccoons on Corfu. They are not native to Greece and are classified as an invasive alien species. It is believed that the raccoons on Corfu were originally escaped or abandoned pets which managed to survive in the wild and began breeding. Most sightings are restricted to the western coastal area between the villages of Agios Gordis and Giannades.
