Pennant's Swimming Crab (Portumnus latipes)

The Pennant's Swimming Crab (Portumnus latipes) is a medium-sized crustacean with a broad, flattened body and large, paddle-like rear legs adapted for swimming. Its carapace is adorned with a distinctive pattern of red and brown markings. Found in the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic, it inhabits sandy and muddy seabeds.
