European Green Lizard (Lacerta viridis)

The European Green Lizard (Lacerta viridis) is a vibrant reptile found across Europe, including Greece. Males are notable for their bright green scales, often with a hint of blue on their throats during breeding season. Females are generally less colorful, with more subdued green and brown tones. These lizards can grow up to 40cm long and inhabit diverse environments, from forests to scrublands, and feed on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates.
