The Balkan Terrapin (Mauremys rivulata) is a species of terrapin in the family 'Geoemydidae' and is found in the eastern Mediterranean region. They are generally omnivorous, but these terrapins have been found to prefer meat in their diet. They can grow up to 25 cm in length and are relatively common in rivers in Corfu but are at risk of extinction on some Greek islands.
