Μέλισσες/Σφήκες
Chrysis ignita, known as the ruby-tailed wasp, is a striking metallic species with a shimmering blue-green head and thorax and a vivid red abdomen. Found across Europe, including Greece, it is a kleptoparasite, laying its eggs in the nests of solitary bees and wasps. The larva consumes the host’s egg or larva and food stores. Adults are often seen in sunny spots on wood or stone, especially during summer, and are harmless to humans.
