The Mammoth Wasp (Megascolia maculata) is a very large wasp often seen in Corfu. It is known for its black body with yellow spots and robust size. Females are parasitoids of scarab beetle larvae, laying eggs inside them. Found in sunny, open habitats, these impressive wasps are solitary and non-aggressive to humans.
