Andrena thoracica is a large, solitary mining bee found across Europe, often in sandy or grassy habitats. It is easily recognised by its reddish-brown, hairy thorax and black abdomen. Active in spring and early summer, females dig nesting burrows in bare soil and gather pollen to provision their brood cells.
