False Turkey-tail (Stereum hirsutum)

The False Turkey-tail (Stereum hirsutum) is also known as the 'hairy curtain crust', or 'hairy stereum', and is an inedible fungus that is often mistaken for the medicinal turkey tail mushroom (Trametes versicolor). It is characterised by its velvety, orange-to-brown bracket-shaped fruiting bodies, which grow in overlapping tiers on dead wood.
