Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus)

The Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus) is a common and highly beneficial insect found across the globe. Named for its orange and black striped abdomen, looking like a jar of marmalade, it plays a vital role as both pollinator and predator of garden pests and can be seen for much of the year.
