Horsefly (Pangonius funebris)

The Horsefly (Pangonius funebris) is a species of nectar-feeding horsefly (family Tabanidae) native to the Mediterranean. It is famous for its excellent carpenter bee mimicry and its remarkably long proboscis, which it uses to feed exclusively on the nectar of flowers like milk thistle.
