Fan-bristled Robberfly (Dysmachus trigonus)

The Fan-bristled Robberfly (Dysmachus trigonus) is a native, medium-sized predator from the Asilidae (robber fly) family known for its fast, ambush attacks on other flying insects. It prefers sunny, warm, and less windy days to hunt in its preferred habitats of dry, sparsely vegetated areas. They have a powerful bite that can be painful if provoked, but are not aggressive towards humans.
