Bee-fly (Bombylius quadrifarius)

The Bee-fly (Bombylius quadrifarius), found in Greece, can be up to 10mm long with a wingspan of 33mm. Like other bee-flies, it is a hairy, hovering bee-like insect that feeds on nectar using a long proboscis. It has a parasitic life cycle, laying eggs in or near the burrows of solitary bees.
