Wood White (Leptidea sinapis)

A medium sized, white butterfly in the family Pieridae (White, yellow butterflies)

The Wood White (Leptidea sinapis) is a small butterfly with a slow flight which is usually encountered in sheltered situations, such as olive groves or scrubland. The upper wings are white with rounded edges. Males have a black mark on the edge of the forewing. The undersides are white, with indistinct grey/green markings. They are hard to photograph, because they fly almost continuously throughout the day, patrolling to find a mate.

The Corfu Nature Website currently contains over 5,000 photographs of  more than 1,000 wildlife species found on Corfu.
