White-letter Hairstreak (Satyrium w-album)
A small, brown butterfly in the family Lycaenidae (Gossamer-winged butterflies)
Flying in April | May | June
The White-letter Hairstreak (Satyrium w-album) is a butterfly in the family Lycaenidae and gets its name from the letter "W" that is formed from a series of white lines found on the underside of the hindwings. Like most hairstreaks, it rarely shows its upper wings, usually resting with them closed and displaying the undersides. It is occasionally seen at a few locations in Corfu.
