Flying in April | May | June | July | August | September | October

The Small Heath (Coenonympha pamphilus) is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. The Small Heath is active during the daytime and flies with a noticeable fluttering flight pattern near the ground. It rests with closed wings when not in flight, so open wing photographs are very difficult to take.
