The Ilex Hairstreak (Satyrium ilicis) is one of several similar species from the genus Satyrium which tend to fly in early summer, especially in June. It is seen in select locations in Corfu in woodland where the females can lay on the larval foodplants, oak trees. Like most hairstreaks, it rarely shows its upper wings, usually resting with them closed, only displaying the undersides.
