Glanville Fritillary (Melitaea cinxia)

A medium sized, orange/brown butterfly in the family Nymphalidae (Brush-footed butterflies)
Flying in April | May | June

The Glanville Fritillary (Melitaea cinxia) is an orange butterfly that live in almost all of Europe. As adults, the Glanville fritillaries are short lived; they spend most of their lives as caterpillars. The species is at risk of population decline because it is not a migratory species.
