Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra)

The Whinchat (Saxicola rubetra) is in the family Warblers/Flycatchers and are migrant birds that winter in Africa. They can frequently be seen sitting on the tips of bamboo or reeds and small bushes, they inhabit open meadows and wasteland, wet habitats and dry heath. They are often confused with the similar Stonechat but are paler with distinctive pale eyestripes and a pale throat. Males are streaky brown above, with an orange chest, but females are paler.
