European Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus)

The Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus) is a nocturnal bird, in the family Raptors/Owls, with mottled brown, grey, and buff plumage that camouflages it against the ground. Active at dusk and night, it feeds on flying insects caught in flight. Silent in daylight, it nests on bare ground in open habitats and is known for its distinctive churring song and silent, erratic flight.
